Apparently Nutone manufactured all of these fans in 1983: Verandah, Hacienda, Sea Island, Decorator, and Slimline model 36" and 52" fans.
I know the Verandah, Hacienda, and the Slimline . . . anyone know what the 1983 Sea Island or Decorator looked like?

Does anyone have pics of those fans?

There are pics of the ones I mentioned in the Vintage Ceiling Fans Yahoo Group photo gallery.
As for the others, I *might* have them in an old Nutone Catalog I'd have to dig up . . . but they'd be later models, like early 90s. I was wondering if the 80s ones were different.

I have pictures of the early 1980s Hacienda . . . my question is, does the early 1980s Decordatorlook anything like the 90s one you've (probably) seen. . . I believe it actually looks more like the Hacienda than the more recent Decorator. I dont remember if I've seen the Sea Island or not, but the name rings a bell. I know Hunter made a fan by that name . . .

Hunter did make an outdoor fan called sea island but in 1996 they changed its name to sea air and that fan is a current hunter fan. One more question, when was that hunter fan introduced?

Ok, I remember now (Ryan Sipka jogged my memory).
The Sea Island is the Nutone that had the Fasco-style blades mount . . . Matthew had one in his gallery. Looked similar to a Veranda Deluxe.
The early Decorators looked like the Hacienda but with a fildagree sideband and GE-style vents. (I think Brian Hicks has one)

Speaking of the Nutone verandah, I saw a brown and WHITE verandah deluxe today. It was not painted over like that. I've never seen this before. Dan, do you know anything about this?

And one more thing to add, the verandah I saw had a decorative switch housing aswell. It had a white cap on it. I've also seen antique brass versions. This verandah is probably one of the older ones. The downrod and canopy were also white aswell as the blade brackets.

Well, I've seen a brown/black (couldnt tell which) and brass Sea Island with White Blades, factory design . . . so I suppose it's jsut as likely to find a brown and white one. Fan designs were fairly simple in those days so I suppose some companies decided to spruce them up with different combinations of finishes. I've been told with Taras you could match any combination you wanted, between the motor, sideband, and blades. Including less common finishes like Chrome.
