I would check with one of the ceiling fan guys at the AFCA forum. However, if you want to run the motor, find the two leads coming straight off the winding. When I tested that motor, I didn't hook my wires up to the screw terminals.
This C-18 was 3-speed, and it used one of the porcelain rotary switches. If i'm not mistaken, this motor has a speed coil. My best guess is that you will have three wires (speeds 1, 2, and 3) coming out of there and going down to the switch. (As you know, antique ceiling fans are generally like this). There should also be a line (L, black) going from the ceiling to the positive screw terminal and then down to the switch. Forgive me, I didn't really investigate this motor that much.
I'm glad the C-18 got to you safely! I noticed that you are the one who got that splattered C-17 off eBay. Shipping these things takes a lot of care.

I have already started working on it! It is going to be a challenge, but, I love challenges! Yeah, the R-52 (the one that got splattered) was nice but that KYLE is a complete douche... and a little worm.... I disputed the charge on my credit card and sent them all the documentation. They have already given me a credit and will be fighting paypal and paypal with Kyle. Because in an e-mail he promised me a FULL REFUND and then reneged on that promise, I know the credit card will rule in my favor and make him pay. Anyway, thanks for the explanation, I did talk to "The Hicks" about and gave me a precise wiring "diagram" if you will... Thanks>>>>>>>>>>Oliver

Cool, i'm glad you have the wiring diagram. It's definitely a restorable fan; I always enjoy tinkering around with antique ceiling fans. I hoping I can get another C-18 from Geoff Dunaway in November.
Brian has taken apart far more Originals than i've ever owned, i'm pretty sure. I may get some wiring diagrams from him in the future if needed.
