My old Zephyr III quit. I am replacing it with a Delta II I bought at a garage sale. The Delta II I am installing has 5 wires inside. It has 2 switches. The light switch has 2 blue wires. I am guessing I don't need this switch at all, as the Zephyr did not have it. There are 3 other wires, a black and a white coming out the middle, and a blue wire coming out the fan speed switch. I tried black to black and white to white from the light kit, but it did not work right. When I screwed in a light bulb to test it, the light bulb came on very faintly and the fan started spinning. I have separate fan and light switches on the wall. The fan on and off works correctly. The old Zephyr only had one blue and one white wire inside, coming from the fan speed switch, so light installation was simple. How do I install the light kit with the 3 wires, black and white from the middle and blue from the fan speed switch?

Hmm, I'm not really familiar with Casablancas. What did you do with the Zephyr?

What wires come out the top of the Delta?

At the top of the Delta are black which I wired to black from the wall, blue which I wired to red from the wall, white to white, and green to green. This is identical to how I had the old Zephyr wired.

trace the blue wire into the switch housing and connect the light to that.

Ok I will hook up to the blue wire. What do I do with the extra black wire, just cap it?
Rockin, I don't know what we paid, not much. It was in a Hunter box. I thought it was a Hunter until I took it out to install it, and was pleased to discover the Casablanca.

Just cap any unused wires.

Well it did not work right. I wired the black wire from the light kit to the blue in the fan. I turned one wall switch on and both the fan and light came on. I turned that switch off, and turned on the other wall switch, and it popped and sparked at the upper canopy and flipped the fuse breaker switch. Not sure what to try next.

What is the other wire in the light kit connected to? How are things connected at the upper canopy?

The light kit has only a black and a white wire. The wires in the canopy are black which I wired to black from the wall, blue which I wired to red from the wall, white to white, and green to green. The switch housing has black and white wires in the middle, and a blue wire coming out of the speed switch. On my first try, I wired white from the light kit to white, and black from the light kit to black. On my second try, I wired white from the light kit to white, and black from the light kit to blue.

there should be a blue wire coming from the switch housing from where the canopy wire is connected or u could have a bad pull chain switch for the light

Ok the blue from the speed switch is NOT the same as the blue coming out the top of the fan, is it?

I don't think I can tell where the blue from the speed switch is coming from without taking it apart. The blue coming out the top of the fan goes down the downrod, but I can't tell what it connects to.

You pull on the wire from one end and see if it moves on the other.
