I got a brown/brass Emerson TOC (1895 motor) off CL last month and finally hung it, and I had to put a lot of effort into cleaning it because it was an absolute mess. When I rev it up, it does not run properly and I made a video to shed some light on the situation. Enjoy! tinypic.com/player.php?v=a1gzy9&s=5

It has a slight hum, and it reversed directions without having to touch the switch atop the motor, and it doesn't go as fast as it should.
What gives?

Bad reverse switch or bad capacitor.
