Hey Guys, I have a 36" Emerson Blenderfan and was thinking about getting either 42" 48" or 52" blades for it. Will longer blades overheat the motor?

It would be best to just purchase a large Blender fan instead. You don't want to damage the one you already have, so just wait until you can get a big one.

I agree wityh Andrew, 42" would be fine, anything else isnt a good idea. I know people who have put 52" blades on a 36" blenderfan but I wouldnt do it. If you do make sure they are very lightweight.

I posted this same topic on DTVF and Sean Brown told me don't do it at all or it would overheat the motor!

I posted this same topic on DTVF and Sean Brown told me don't do it at all or it would overheat the motor! Elitists think they know everything... they don't. Emerson's 36" and 40/42" fans ALL used the same smaller motor, and none of them have had serious problems (at least, to my knowledge).

It basically have to do with the pitch. A lot of 36'' and 42'' fans will use the same size of motor but they will have a different amount of pitch to the brackets. For example the Craftmade Decorative 42'' and Max Air 29'' have the same motor and housing, both have 153x8mm motor except the Max Air 29'' have 25* pitch to the brackets and the 42'' Decorative have 14* pitch.

There is really no right or wrong answer here unless you want to get technical.
Get an ampmeter and wire it in series with the fan. If you put the longer blades on and the fan exceeds it's rated amperage, you have a problem. If it does not, you're fine.
But, if you dont want to go to all that trouble, dont try any blades longer than 42" like ALL OF US are telling you.

I've decided to just go ahead and stick with the 36" blades but thanks everybody for all the tips.

That's a good choice. I hope you can find a 52" one so you can have the longer blades.

Yes most K55 motor fans use the 52" motor on both sizes.
