Okay, I'm buying that Zephyr from Kyle, and it doesn't have a switchcap, so I thought I'd use the one from my IT Zephyr, since I don't use that one often. Now, as you may or may not remember, my IT Zephyr's cap had BAD water damage all over it. I tried every cleaning technique possible, and in the end, the finish started to wear away. So I thought I would just strip, polish and repaint it.(I was going to fix up the cap eventually anyway) My dad fixed it up nice, as seen in the pics. I was wondering if there are any specific AB laquers or other paint types you guys have used that match up well with Casablanca AB?

I agree Clay, there could be a master list of what brands and such go with each manufacturer and finish. It seems as if all the "experts" have disappeared for the time being, so this one will have to wait.

I got the motor and blades today Jeremy! The Casa. blades are NICE, and the Nutone motor cleaned up really well. I got all the stickers off, and tightened the switch housing somewhat. Bad news is I don't have any blades that fit the motor, but I'll look for some.
Also, I got the switchcap, it's a done deal!

I've known a guy to spray with brass colored paint, then mist it with black or a darker color, to get the "antique" look. Whatever he used looked great. It was rustoleum.
OR just order a new switch cap from Casa like $10

cole, that nutone motor should work because i installed it/used it BEFORE i took it back down, the blades/blade arms i put it on the motor barly fit,but didn't work well so that's why i didn't include them & besides it was white/stencil blades/PB pretzel arms.

I just joined the forum. I have done restoration work since 1981 on lighting and ceiling fans. To answer you question about matching finishes. What I usually do is use what is called a faux painting technique. I can usually come pretty close to finishes of manufacturers especially if they are painted. If it is a plated finish then it becomes a little more tricky just because of the two different methods of applyiing the finish.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it very much. Since I bought the good cap off Ebay, I now have room to experiment on the other cap. At some point I may come back with a good method.
