So about maybe about 5 years ago I bought a Nutone Hacienda off of Ebay(Dan you should remember, the one that you told me to buy for a certain reason). Anyway, I finally got around to putting it up. One little problem, low speed only works if you give it a little push or if the fan was running on a higher speed. It is from 1982 and has never been taken out of the box. It almost is like a friction drive and stops very quickly when you turn it off. The blades turn freely for the most part but you can feel some friction to it. I have never seen one of these up and running so I am not sure about them. Is it something that I should just leave running and then everything will loosen up or is something wrong with it? Oh and doesn't make any noise, if that might matter.
Thanks

It sounds like the bearings are a wee bit sticky, which makes sense for a fan that has sat unused for 27 years. You could probably give a couple drops of Zoom Spout Oiler (if you can find it), which would rejuvinate the grease in the bearings.

The vents are close to GE vents, but a slightly different shape (and if I remember correctly, the faceplate is more ornate). The regular GE vent NuTones (with non-NuTone blades) are called Decorators (and the later ones "Decorator 5"). Yours doesn't have the point-tip cherry wood blades, does it Stephen?

I dont remember the reason, I hope it was a good one!
I agree with Andrew. If the blades are stiff it needs some oil. NOT 3-in-1 or WD40.
