Here are the sightings for March.
In Royan, Poitou-Charentes:
Two unknowns 140 cm fans in a restaurant. Are they Encon/Westinghouses?
Another restaurant have these two in the varanda:
An early 1990's gray Nadair Designer with four round blades.
A mid to late 1980's TAT-Kando 140 cm with three curved blades.
Another restaurant have at least two of these recent white unknown GE vent installed in the veranda of the restaurant which is why the blades are warped. Notice how the switch cap does not accept lights kits.
They also have this newer one with stamped steel bracket and three tulip lights.
A store has this S&P HTB 90 cm
Another one has this Vortice Nordik Design 1S 120 cm
A 3rd store has this recent Rovex 107 cm with the schoolhouse light cap out. This is the newer version with skinny vents.
A restaurant in Fouras, Poitou-Charentes has two of these recent Westinghouse Arius.
An italian restaurant in La Rochelle, Poitou-Charentes has about two of these brushed nickel Faro Ibiza 132 cm. The color on the blades is not original. Faro has a lot of cool products.
Moving now to Paris, Île-de-France:
An older brown Vortice Nordk Decor 140 cm, my favorite Vortice model.
My hotel have this very cool Cinni Mumbai 140 cm in oil rubbed bronze with it's original round shape 5-speed controller installed in the breakfast room. Unfortunately it's seems there was a problem with it. It would not start anywhere between speed 1 to 4. Only on speed 5, the highest speed, it would turn just a little bit. It seems the bearings were exactly stiff. My guess is that it was installed for decorative purposes and they never really turn it on since it was installed. Cinni fans requires a particularly rigorous bearing break-in when new. Ideally they need to be let turn on high bladeless for a few hours.
A restaurant in the 16th arrondissement has about three of these older brown Vortice Nordik Decor 140 cm. For some reason the lower canopy on this one is lift up a little bit.
A restaurant near my hotel in the 6th arrondissement has about two or three Vortice Nordik Design IS 90 cm
A tiny jewelry store in the 6th arrondissement has this 1970-1980's Crompton Parkinson V 140 cm. It's in very good condition for it's age and not yellowed at all. The canopies are not cracked.
A restaurant near the Marais and the city hall has four of these 2000's chrome Zephir 120 cm with ribbed glass light kits, lower canopies and switch housing at the same time. The current version does not have the lower canopy anymore.
I'm saving the best for the last. I hit the jackpot in the Marais in a clothing store with three restored antiques in black and chrome. These were the first metal bladed fans in the mid to late 1920's. They were restored more than ten years ago in the mid 2000's. The blades have been mismatched between the fans though. Here we see a Marelli Astra 140 cm using Eole blades and brackets. This combination really doesn't look bad at all and I like how the brackets becomes visible with these blades.
Marelli Astra 140 cm no 2 with Eole blades using
actual Marelli brackets mounted at the bottom. Apparently everything fits right or maybe the Eole blades were drilled to fit the Marelli brackets. Either way it look very good and I love the showing brackets.
This is where it gets ugly. An Eole 140 cm with Marelli blades. Oups! It fits but it doesn't look right at all.
The three controls grouped together. The top controller is a Marelli control and the two bottom ones are Eole when there's actually two Mareli motors and one Eole. Funny. Each controllers offers 6-speeds. 1 being the slowest speed. Notice how the Marelli controller was made in Witry-lès-Reims and not in Italy. Eole fans were made in Orléans. Before restoration they would have been made for 110-120 volts.
Enjoy and comment!
