The Canarm 36" install is my favorite! The chrome fans are neat too. They fit perfectly for that small greenhouse. I think it was the first time that I see these chunky Nadair GE vent in chrome.

Are you sure the oil rubbed bronze fan at Salvation Army is a Canarm? It looks a lot like a Westinghouse. Both are garbage regardless. The vintage Canarm Industrial is awesome! I would personally read it as "8/1978." The Nadair GE-vents in chrome would be beautiful with gloss rosewood blades. Those newer CP36s look so cheap without the gold stripe around the motor.

Yes, it's a Canarm Pacific Wind. You would love it because it takes only fluorescent bulbs in the light. Why would you read the date upside down? Yes I prefer the Canarms with the gold line around the motor but it would be easy to install one is desired and the quality haven't changed.

Yes, it's a Canarm Pacific Wind. You would love it because it takes only fluorescent bulbs in the light. Funny, however I'm not one to like garbage (in this case, regarding those horrible GU24-base bulbs, and low quality fan itself) On a side note, I never knew Canarm used Hong Kong China Electrical Company to make some of their fans. Why would you read the date upside down? 1978 makes more sense? Yes I prefer the Canarms with the gold line around the motor but it would be easy to install one is desired and the quality haven't changed. It would be interesting to work with an older version (including the gold stripe) and a newer version (sans gold stripe) side-by-side to see if they are indeed the same quality.

Some really neat stuff, I particularly love the 4 blade Golden, 36" Canarms, and of course the chrome GE Vents!
Going back further there's tons of other stuff I'm loving as well.

Thanks a lot for viewing and commenting. I should have more to post soon. Yes, I've post quite a lot before that too. The four straight metal blade Golden Fan was quite a surprise.

Here are some sightings for mid April till May 1st. For those who loves identifying fans, this is for you. I mostly have unknow fans here. At a local cabane à sucre, that I have not been to in a long time there is this unknown white and brass early 1990's Mercury style fan with lighted housing. It has pretzel brackets, round blade tips and four pull chains. I'm thinking it's a Canarm, it could possibly be a Nadair but a weird one. It was on low with the lights in the housing on. I didn't remembered there was a fan there. Normally I would have remembered this. This is nothing new. Some of the older members that were here in 2008-2009 will remember theses fans when I posted about it in this thread. It's at my local Rona, the same one that just installed two new Canarm CP36 in the greenhouse. Theses mysterious Indian fans were installed new around 1999. They are about six of them. I purposely took a picture of a different one from the four ones seen in the thread. This one is in particularly good condition. We can see the wires were disconnected. I really wished I knew what brand they are. They are very rare around here. I've only seen them at one other place so far. In a local antique store, they are theses two unknown white GE vent 132 cm fans with five blades. They look like to be from the late 1980's, early 1990's but what's weird is that they have a reversing switch. That's very uncommon for fans of this age around here. They are seen quite often in Québec but I don't know what they are. When I was a child they were often on high. Lately they are seen mostly off. No. 1 No. 2, this one is pretty beat up and yellowed. At a large work gear and army surplus store located in Beloeil, QC is a whole bunch of Canarm CP36 and Banvil Bronze Line 140 cm. The Canarms are installed where the ceiling is lower. Most of them were on expect two that are unplugged like this one. A very bad picture of a spinning Banvil Bronze Lines where the ceiling is very tall. All of theses were spinning. Enjoy!

The first one has a pretty neat install. Not a fan I would have expected to see there though.
Third sighting: I love the ghetto feel of this install..if only these had cane blades it would be perfect.
Fourth sighting: Can't go wrong with 36" industrials

Yes, usually cabanes à sucre have metal blade fans or other spinners.
You have never seen theses fans at the local Rona?
It's very common lately to see small metal blade fans in large commercial places.

Now that you mention it, they have been appearing quite a bit recently. I've yet to see any around here, but that's no surprise, there's few good fans around here.

It doesn't have to be in a Rona to see theses fans. They could be installed anywhere. The only other place I've seen there was in a dépanneur. You can see that on page 27 of this thread.

Here are some sightings for the month of May. In a clothing store in the shopping mall in Montmagny, QC, they are six Banvil Bronze Lines 140 cm that were installed around June-July 2000. I remember when this place was brand new and since 2000 they haven't changed it again. There is a platform where some of the fans are installed and the other have long poles on the part of the ceiling that is exposed. It's a very cool install and usually they are kept on a very slow speed all perfectly aligned in a row. They are the kind with one line on the blades. The two first ones were on a fast low and the rest on a slow low. The same fan as above. Continuing in Montmagny, QC, in a small department store, they are many early 1990's Canarm like theses. The version with no lines on the blades. The IGA grocery store in Montmagny was renovated in 2002 and was enlarged this year and in the new part they have some of theses same Banvil Bronze Lines 140 cm as in the first pictures of the post. This one in particular have it's blade tips curled around to make it fit between the steel beams. I found this very funny. I would like to see it spinning. It must make it only 132 cm now or even 127. It seems that the Bronze Line can still look like it did in 2000 if these are brand newly installed. Before the renovations of 2002, this IGA store had three ivory early 1980's Canarm 120 cm with chrome nut, which are very rare to see around here and the rest of the fans were the more popular white Canarm 140 cm without nut of the same age like the 1983 one I have. In a greenhouse in Drummondville, QC, in the center of it where there is a small café are three Canarm CP56 with the blades installed the curves facing down. Another very cool and funny installation. Judging by the shape and thickness of the motor they seems very early ones to have the current blades with three lines. They are probably from the mid 1990's or slightly earlier. No. 1 No. 2 No. 3 Back here in Montréal, in my area in the west. Here are more pictures of that same gardening center filled with cool fans that I took some pictures of in August 2013. Refer to the middle of page 31 of this thread to see the first pictures. Here are two more fans I could not get last time. This time all the fans were off. The very cool other early 1980's ivory 4 Saisons there, the last time I took a picture of the 120 cm, and this time here is the 140 cm. This one also have metal canopies like the smaller one so I'm guessing they are from 1981. A picture of a different mid to late 1980's Canarm than the ones you saw last time. This one is near the cash. They are four like this in total, two on long poles and two on short poles. The two 4 Saisons are installed where the ceiling is lower. They are also two more fans in the storage garage at the back that seems to be other mid to late 1980's Canarm like these. Enjoy!
