I'm very late at posting these. I should have posted them a month ago. A good friend of mine went to a trip to Cuba at the end of April and beginning on May and she took pictures of the ceiling fans she saw there. She said all the fans were in a semi-outdoor restaurant in Nueva Havana. First these two 132 cm white five blade outdoor fans. They really look like Westinghouse Verandah Breeze. It's difficult to see but it seems like they have an oval shaped logo on the side band which looks a lot like a Westinghouse logo. They obviously replaced older Sanyo fans. The canopies are not original. She also saw these green painted 140 cm Japanese spinners. We can see a second one in the background. Usually in central and south America (including the Caribbeans) theses fans are labeled KDK with the most chunky plastic shell but theses seems to be the other version probably slightly more recent more often labeled National with the little instep around the motor. Anyone can confirm? They seem to be this version: www.vintageceilingfans.com/membergalleries/gallery/showimage.php?i=366&c=98...And NOT this version which is usually what they have in central and south America: www.vintageceilingfans.com/membergalleries/gallery/showimage.php?i=1502&c=98There was a little problem with the pictures, they were supposed to be a little bigger she said.

Here in Montreal, QC. At the top of page 28 of this thread I posted back in March of this year, pictures of an old 4 Seasons spinner 140 cm with the three metal curved blades installed upside down that I saw at Collège Saint-Laurent. I went there again yesterday for a cultural event and saw the second 4 Seasons exactly like it also with the blades installed upside down. I knew they were more than one of these in this college. This one is not spinning so it makes a better picture. The canopies are metal like the other one. The 4 Saisons / 4 Seasons swirl blue and white logo is clearly visible on the lower canopy. The other one I pictured back in March was still spinning at the same speed.

I dont know what it is with mounting blades upside down. Banvil & Envirofan used to have some stock photos on their site with the blades mounted upside down. I guess it makes sense if the fan is running updraft.

They want the air to blow updraft all the time whatever the season it seems so that the heat does not stays at the top of the stairway.

Because if it isn't, epic fail is epic.

I did not felt any air directly under the other one that is always spinning but on the sides of the walls I did.

Oops stupid forum takes me to the first page when I click on the updated thread.. So that would be the Canarm industrials on the first page of this thread..

Wow, they are idiots if that's the case. Flipping the blades over on an industrial fan will not cause it to blow updraft unless the motor is reversed as well. The blades will still be pitched in the same direction, but the curve will now work against the airflow instead of directing it downward and therefore very little air will be moved. It will also run faster because there is much less air resistance.

Yeah.. I've flipped curved blades before just to try it. Effectively it makes the fan do very little lol, unless you do reverse the motor direction as well.

Interesting. I did not know that. I haven't tried it yet.
This 4 Seasons was very impressive then, it was blowing a lot of air this way. I felt a lot of air from the sides of the walls and it was not even at full capacity.
It's funny how the blade installation drags more attention than the coolness of the fan it self.

So that would be the Canarm industrials on the first page of this thread.. Yes it does not work anymore to simply click on the thread title. We have to click on the number of the last page of the thread. Cool, a Canarm in Florida. What model is it? It's similar to the white three blade fan on the first picture of this thread? If it's a Canarm from the CP series (metal blades) it would be worth getting. They are very well made for today's fans. They don't only have the quality but they also have the vintage look to them. I bought a CP48 model NIB at a very discounted price last summer. I love it. Note that the white fan you see on the very first picture of this thread is actually a Banvil Silver Line. It's similar to a Canarm CP though.

Check out this pair of Nadair beauties I saw at a friends house today! Early 1990's with the chunky detachable switch housing, glossy white and chrome with their original three tier light kits (wrong bulbs of course). I'm thinking they might be 127 cm instead of 132 cm. They have short brackets like Casablanca and they did look a little smaller than 132 in person. I love how wide the blades are on Nadairs of this age. The two pictures shows the two different fans. The ceiling is covered with ceramic tiles. Also a brushed nickel Canarm Twister 76 cm taken through a window of a ice creme bar. Excuse the reflections.
