I am looking for a capacitor for an old SMC ceiling fan. The capacitor number is CJ3WS. It is possible that it comes with a couple of switches attached, which would be fine. Can anyone help me find this capacitor? I haven't had any luck going to the SMC web site. Thanks!

Thanks! I did find what I think is the correct capacitor on this site, but I'm not sure if I need the 4.5-5-5 uf or the 4.5-5-6, due to this part of the old capacitor being melted and unreadable. Is there a practical difference between these two capacitors?

1uf will not make a life or death difference. I'd go with the 6 since it will mean a faster fan.

You also don't have to look for a particular brand name capacitor, either. Just make sure the values are correct or as close as possible, and that it has the same number of wires coming out each side. SMC fans, in my experience, have historically had cheap capacitors that go out quickly, so just about anything should be an upgrade.

I've not had that issue with SMCs.
