I like those also. And the models with 4 bulbs and the ornate ends. I used to have some when I was a kid, my dad threw them out.

Once I get a few pictures of some light fixtures from the 70s and prior, I think I'll put a section up on the site for old light fixtures and maybe a thread on the forums. What does anyone think?

I remember a few months back i made a post about retro light fixtures too, and i was able to get a pic of some old ones that i remember seeing in my old elementary and high school building before they were torn down. here is the best pic i could find, some of you may remember seeing it, i think they were around in the 70s, they were the flickering & buzzing types, maybe we could add this one to the new light gallery:

I've been in many classrooms with those tye of fixtures. I always thought they were neat. Those type of fixtures came sometime around 1984. I've got better pictures from my camcorder when taping the old parts of the school before tearing it down..

No it doesn't have them anymore. I recall seeing one of those Southern fixtures in a recycle pile at the recycling center.
I have seen those angled school fixtures in a school that was built in 1991. I wonder if they still use them in new buildings.

I only know of one last school around me that still has those angled ones in the pic, they're at Spanish River High which was built in the early 80s i belive. surprisingly, they dont plan on demolishing that school anytime soon either, which is good because i like the look of that school too. my middle school had these type of fixture which i liked too. this was in the school which i had posted pics of that they are demolishing (the school with the brick front) had these type, which had also flickered too:

My elementry School, which is still standing North Boro Elementry, it's a historical school built in 1935. The old buildings which are still standing has those in them. When I was going there in 1991, they were building new parts to the school...My middel school also had those too, but has been torn down. I remember the older school that are not around anymore, each building had different lighting in them. I remember to storage areas of the school still had those strip lights with the shades and the yellow side panels like mentioned early in this thread...

If you look closely in some of the pics in "old schools" in the general area, you can see the old fixtures during demo all bent up and hangin from the ceilings, of course without the bulbs and ballasts though (for enviormental safety reasons for those of you that didd'nt know)
