I found that I can make a food warmer out of those plastic Rival hot pots that are meant to warm soup or boil water.
I bought the hot pot for $3.50 at the thrift shop. A heatproof bowl such as glass will fit into the top perfectly. I put water in the hot pot up to the min line and plug it in, turn the dial to high and it will begin to boil.
Once that's done, I turn the dial to the #2 setting and add the hot food to the bowl. Once that's done, it will stay hot as long as there's water in the hot pot.
Two things you need to watch though- use water without iron in it or you will stain your hot pot, and make sure to use a towel when you lift the bowl out because it will burn you.
I'm going to use these at my party this month and will let you know how it all works out. Hope you find it useful.

You've completely confused me as to why you posted this.
