Something of a[n] [re-]introduction:
For those who know me (Pierce) - I've been off VCF, exclusively on DT, for a few months. As per private requests from member(s) unnamed, I'm going to go back to splitting my time between DT and VCF -- for those who read both, don't be surprised if I simply post the same things on both forums, for brevity. So suffice it to say, I'm back.
For those who don't know me (I don't know who's appeared here in the past few months) - my name is Pierce Phillips. I was one of the very first members on here (registered as organist89 in January 2004; note the really old posts such as on page 32 of the Ceiling Fans sub-forum). I was here on-and-off for a few years, before leaving a few months ago. I've known some of the folks on here for quite a while; I met Adam in 2004 when I gave him my Pasasonic F-5215A, and I've known Dan "Spiffy" Neuman since the 1990s. Brian Hicks and I know each other off-site too. I joke around with Ben C. a lot, so don't be alarmed by that; he knows I'm kidding.
General "about me":
* I run a very small business -- Seville Fans LLC -- selling parts and providing repair service for vintage ceiling fans.
* I'm a member of the AFCA; I used to collect antique desk fans, but I'm exclusively vintage ceiling fans now.
* I'm an organist and choir director by profession/trade. Organ, as in pipe organ in church. Refer to my personal music page (URL down in my signature block).
* My favorite brand varies, but I usually say Emerson. I'm also a big fan of Lasko, FASCO, Casablanca, and R&M Hunters.
* I'm a grammar nazi. I try to keep it under wraps on here, but don't choose to feel offended and think I'm trying to talk down to you if I correct you.
* I live in Henderson, NC, 27536, which is not too far north of Raleigh. I use the Raleigh craigslist, and as I've said before -- if you see something on there you want, I'm happy to go pick it up for you and ship it to you, so long as you pay for the cost of the fan and shipping (and possibly gas, depending on how far it is).
* Unlike some folks on here, who are experts when it comes to a given brand or field, I don't have an "expertise" per se. I'll try and contribute what I know to all threads I can, but my knowledge is somewhat sporadic. I can answer questions about model history, and technical physics and electrical things, better than I can answer questions like "please look at this picture and identify this fan".
* I tend to create diagrams (i.e. in Microsoft Paint) to illustrate what I'm saying.
That's about it.
