Hey guys
A very disappointing day this is....I hung and connected the Homestar, as well as the wall control and no movement. The motor made a grunt, like the computer part of it was trying to work, but no spinning??? is this a DOA??? any remedy for this??? i tried all possible configurations for the wall control such as blue to brown 1, wall wire to black, other wall wire to brown 2. I ve switched and flipped these around several times.....is this fan toast??? everything is as it was never tweaked with, no funny smells, nothin. Please let me know!!!

I tweaked more with her until I heard the chime kick in and it started right up on low...reversed though. I switched wires, pushed buttons, etc and it seems that the forward function of the fan wont work. My suspicion is the wall control, as this is how it works. Reverse: kicks the fan speed up step by step.... Off makes it slow down.... On: does nothing at all, no sound, Off-On slide switch works fine. i dont have a light kit yet, so Im wondering, is a replacement wall control hard to find??? Is this the fault of the fan motor or wall control?? All other parts are in perfect working condition.

I don't think you have any other option for a wall control though.

sean,
do you think my control is defective? I wasnt looking for a different type of control, just a replacement of the same kind and brand. Also, is it okay if the fan gets pretty warm after a few hours on Medium? or should i worry

I would try to find another control of teh same kind, and see how that works. It should be ok, the only thing to worry about is that flywheel, but thats only if the fan gets HOT.

It made a chiming noise? WHen did they make those Homestars? So it's like an intelitouch control?
