Appartently the fan I've been looking for (see the Identification board) is a Tara ceiling fan by the Southern Fan Company. So of course I am seeking this fan, but I'm also interested in any other information about the company. What other fans did they make? What other brand names, manufactures, etc, were they linked to? Were any other fans marketed under the Tara name (supposedly so, and then what were they like)? Any information anyone can prodive would be very much appreciated.

I assume, of course, that you typed "Southern Fan Co Tara" into Goodle, but in case you didn't, the first link said this: "Southern Fan Co. is out of business. This is a very good variable speed fan. It will usually have the name Tara on the fan body. Parts available at 979-553-4433" (from www.faninfo.com/southern_fan_ceiling_fans.html)So, parts are still available. And we can assume from this that Southern Fan Co made one or just a few models, and that they were all variable speed, and that their biggest seller was the Tara. Don't know if this helps much, but take it for what it's worth. -Pierce

Yes I searched Google, and all I founder were that page and similar pages on all the fanlocater, faninfo, eceilingfanparts, efans etc pages . . . which are all sites run by the same guy. I called him, he was familiar the Tara fans but had no idea where I could find one. If there are any other pages out there on the web that mention said fans, I havent found them. For the record, not all Southern Fan fans were variable speed . . . there was one Matthew had a picture of that looked just like a Moss Carribean Breeze . . . and I've heard of a builder fan that said "Tara" on it . . . so I am assuming that after they went out of business, other companies must have used/bought the name. Like what happened to Old Jacksonville. I Still Want My Tara!
