About a month ago, I was hit by a drunk driver. See for your self: That's my Lebaron, or whats left of it. Anyway, at 5:30is in the morning, I was heading out to work when I was struck by a drunk driving a 1990 Buick Century Estate wagon. I was going about 35 when he pulled off of a rual road and slammed in to me. The Buick riped apart and the driver was thrown about 100 feet in to the nearby cornfeild. When the Buick hit, the airbag in the Lebaron deployed so everything was a blur for me. My car slid across two lanes of traffic and was facing the opposing lane. I was able to get out and walk about then feet, before I collapsed. By then the first officer came and called for the Paremedics. I'm physcally okay, still shaken (even after a month). The driver of the Buick was sent to the hospital, then the county jail. Now I have to go to court and face this idiot again and get some money out of this. I'm still in IL without a working land-line phone (dumb@ss landlord!) and a crappy cell phone. Back to the regularly scheduled forum.

WHOA that must have sucked having your car totaled and all. Good thing you lived, though. The very same thing happened to a girl I know at college; her car was apparently totalled recently.

Matthew, I'm sorry to hear about such a tragedy. Especially to someone so emotionally attached to cars and driving this would have all the more impact. Perhaps the blessing in the storm would be a large settlement and you can cash in.
There will always be other cars, and I am glad to hear you are not physically hurt.

I am so emotionally attached to cars as well! Since mine had to go to the shop often this year, I had the honor of a 2000 Buick Regal for 2 weeks this summer, and a 2002 Ford Taurus SE, a month ago. I know I mentioned my car(s) on another thread somewhere here. However, we're supposed to be getting a Chevy TrailBlazer soon.

Thank you all for your support. A car can be replaced, a life cannot. The court date is in a week. I'll probabily be getting enough to pay for my car, injuries and some other things. I really realized how lucky I was to live and walk away from the wreck. Just a few cuts when the driverside window broke and thats it. Buckle up and get a car with an airbag. Here are a few more pics: Notice the driverside kick panel (where the Gas & brake petals are)? It was the size of a coffie can.

On the poor lebarons side, it was my project car. I had invested over 5K in it. It just angers me that some stupid drunk would take it away like that! hopefully the settlement will take care of that
