I didnt catch this before. DEFINITELY a Lasko. Is it one of those "Dayton-Laskos?" Anyways, I think it is a very interesting fan, and I haven't seen one like it that wasn't ornate. I went to high school with a girl who has almost the exact fan (same finish/same light kit) in her kitchen, but hers is ornate. At the time, I had no clue as to what make it is. Again, great fan, Sean

Is it one of those "Dayton-Laskos?" The Dayton-Laskos are the metal-bladed industrial versions relabeled for Grainger. They have the little counter and the pullcord comes out the the center. The 56" version is my favorite.

As for the Dayton-Laskos that you speak of, the only place I can recall seeing them in person was at the Old Post Office Pavilion in Washington D.C. on a class field trip there. I also saw those particular fans in an old mail-order catalog my grandpa had.

The brackets are quite similar to the odd remote controlled SMC in the Yahoo galleries. There is a chinese restaurant in my area that has two of those odd remote SMCs. These fans are operated by a three speed pullchain. They have cane blades, beehive canopy (one piece), and are very similar to the ge vent A-52s, but ornate.

I've had the opportunity to get the later remote versions but those dont interest me. I would like one of the variable speed, bell canopy versions such as those you're describing.
