I have an Encon ceiling fan with 5 wood blades. I can't find a model number on it anywhere, but I gather that it's an Encon since that's what the chain pulls are labeled. I'm including a reference picture. The light fixture uses a 3" halogen bulb. It recently burned out, and I cannot get a new bulb to work in the fixture. I have tried several bulbs. I have tried cleaning the contacts, moving the bulb around, etc. The best I got was a brief amount of light which was accompanied by smoke coming from the contact...obviously, I stopped there! Is there a replacement light fixture for this fan, or a way to repair it? I hate to replace the fan - it's the most beautiful fan in the house.

When you changed the bulb, did you touch it with your bare hands?

No, I never touch halogen bulbs with bare fingers, I know that the skin oil will cause them to overheat.

I dont what else it could be. You've tried everything I would think of. Do you have a voltmeter?

Thanks for the responses. It is a T3 bulb. And I do have a voltmeter, and it showed 120VAC across the contacts.
All I can think of is that there must be some carbon buildup or something on the contacts that is preventing them from making contact with the bulb.

Go to your local hardware or lighting repair store, they should be able to sell you a replacement socket. Try that.
