I need advice on disassembling the motor on a 20 year old DEMC 122mm ceiling fan. The fan only turns very slowly and the wall controller seems to be all right. I have two matching ones in a room and only one is faulty. We are considering buying new ones but it would be handy to know how to pull the motor assembly apart. I suspect you put a bolt in where the bottom gold screw is. The bottom gold screw is where the light usually goes but it is blocked off and no wires can come out of this area. Any advice would be appreciated including possible fault. Thanks colhansen@gmail.com

Compare the two fans, if the slow fan has more resistance when you turn it by hand, it may need oiling. Otherwise I think you are dealing with a bad capacitor. Either way you wont have to take the motor itself apart. Show us a picture we'll explain how to oil the fan and/or access the capacitor.
