Greetings-
I have a Fasco Charleston 42" fan, and the light kit in it is broken (rather spectacularly, I might say: smoke, burning plastic, etc!). I'd like to replace the light kit, but kits I can find at regular stores don't fit, because the diameter of the coupling between the fan and the light is 3" on this fan, and most of the light kits I've found are smaller than that. Any advice on where to find a 3" one?
Thanks.

The problem would either be the socket or the pullchain. They can be found at any hardware store.

For starters, the light kit *should* be standard. Assuming it mounts with the two screws to the switch housing, those are the same distance on all light kits.
Otherwise, you can replace the socket, available for a few bucks at a hardware store or home center.

Sadly, it's not - I 'jerry-rigged' a standard light kit to the same fan elsewhere in the house, but it doesn't look too good. This is in the kitchen, so the wife will not stand for a half-assed job!
Thanks, though.

Thanks, though. Send me a picture. Either your fan is unusual, or your light is, and either way we can find something that works. Or, as suggested above, just replace the socket on the old light.

You can't fit a Light Kit because the fan is Older. The best thing to do is take the Motor Housing to the store and say: "Look, I have a Fasco Charelston and I REALLY,REALLY need a Light Kit."
