Continuing from the Dairy Queen thread, what fans did you commonly see in Fast Food restaurants, and are they still around?
I'll start.
I saw Burger Kings with Nutones (friction drive), Reversaire and Adaptaire Originals, Broans (I removed these), and Zephyrs. McDonalds had all sorts of different Casablancas, Island Fans, and newer Hunters including the Passport and the Fantasy Flier. Hardees had a variety of cool fans, I remember lots of different Envirofans, Design Houses, and many cool 80s fans I was never able to identify. I only saw one Taco Bell with fans, they were Lady Deltas.
Any other famous chains with famous fans?

The famous fan for Wendy's is the Casablanca Delta, they were bright brass with 4 blades and contained a schoolhouse light kit. However, there was an 80's 52" antique brass Lasko that had 4 blades and a 4-arm tulip light kit at a Wendy's near downtown Pittsburgh. It was located in the center of the restaurant as I recall. There is a Wendy's that is right at the beginning of my street that had the famous Delta's mentioned above, but circa 2000, they were removed What were they thinking??

Does Subway count? If so, they always seem to have Hunters (any model), Emersons (mostly Plastic Emersons, although I have been in one with 42'' North Winds, and the all so famous one with the Blender fans in it (see the Dairy Queen thread)), Regencys (MX Excel), Casablancas (Delta II and Mission), SMC (Oak, DC 52 and Park Lane), Hampton Bay (all is POS), Harbor Breeze (Builder's Best), Craftmade (Deluxe Flushmount), Seagull Lighting (Main Street), and last but definately least Wal-Mart fans (that little POS 42'' hugger). I was supprised myself to see the Casablancas and the Seagull Lightings. All these fans were in good condition except maybe a few. That few would be the Wal-Mart fans. Not very supprising at all.

Most Subway's I've seen had Viewfans, CEC Georgians, SMC Lagunas, or any other sort of 36" all brown spinner fan. I've also seen a few with SMC DC52s, Hunter Summer Breezes, and Hampton Bays. No older or cool fans.

Subway's only been around for 10-15 years or so where I grew up... so 99% of the ones I've seen have 5-blade builder fans in them. They'll either be flush mount or downrod, but they're almost always polished brass with shoeprint vents.
2 of the Wendy's there had antique brass Zephyrs with Slumber Quiet... those bit the dust all at once about 5 years ago.
McDonald's took their fans down when I was about 5... so I don't remember what they were. I've seen some McDonald's with the adaptaire/reversaire Hunters (what is the difference again?)
The snack bars/arcades of several Putt-Putts I've been to (Killeen and Arlington, TX) had Zephyrs. One or two of the ones in Killeen have been replaced with Hunters.

I've seen some McDonald's with the adaptaire/reversaire Hunters (what is the difference again?) Adaptaire has a central hub to which all the blades mount, m/f style. A key on the hub reverses them all in unison. Reversaire has individual blade brackets, very angular (the arm at a right angle instead of a curve) each bracket is spring-loaded and reverses individually.

A wendy's around me used to have two SMC? emperors in it. First one was removed, and then the other.
A recently upgraded McDonalds around me has three delta II's with the low ceiling adaptors, and there are two white/brass hampton bay cameron II's in the playplace. Most of them that I have been to all had deltas, a few of them had zephyrs, and one or two had both deltas and zephyrs.
A burger king near me used to have two old ritzes in it. They were removed a long while back. And there's actually a relatively old burger king around 12 miles from me (but still close) that has an old casablanca new orleans in it.
All of the subways that I have ever been to all have antique brass hunter summer breeze/passport I/II/III fans in them. One near me has three four blade summer breezes in it.

As for Subway, there was one in downtown Pittsburgh that had 2 brass 44" Hunter Coastal Breezes plus an old brass 4 bladed Crest that was not in use...I think there was something wrong with it, not sure. There was another local subway that had 2 brass 52" 4 blade Hunter Summer Breezes. That one was remodeled and they got replaced by Regencies.

Oh At the burger king I sometimes I go to They have Four-Blade Ceiling fans with Long pole and the canopy it could belong to Moss style and It's polished brass and brown blades. I think these Fans are Moss. I try to get some pictures of them sometime. I be looking up at them and I can Those Ge Vent fans were moss because of the canopy.

Were the blades mounted on top of the motor?? If so, it could be the Moss WF series

No they weren't. But the blades were inside the motor just your regular fan. It might be a Moss.

I havent seen very many Ritzes installed anywhere. And the Burger King with the New Orleans' VERY cool. Such expensive fans for such cheap food.

Moss made a lot of different GE vent fans, if you recognise the canopy it's probably a Moss. Cool fans.
