For a while I was without internet access and had nothing more to do but to spend all of my long-distance and check around to see what fans I could possibly get. there is an italian restaurant near me that has seven bright brass infinitis in it. I've passed this place by so many times and never bothered to ask about their fans. So last week, I went in there, asked about the fans, and I told the owner I was a collector who collected and repaired fans. So anyway, he showed me that four of the fans were not working properly. One was aparently "seized up", one didn't work at all, one was unbalenced, and one had a broken light kit pullchain. the one that didn't work at all really didn't work at all and had seized up bearings. the "seized up" one merely had the wrong blade screws on it and one of the blades didn't fit right. The unbalenced one also had wearing bearings and water damage in the housing, and the light on the other fan was easy to fix.
Well anyway, the infinitis are REPLACEMENTS, they replaced eight old "casablanca" fans installed in 1976. The one that doesn't work will become mine and I will replace the fan with either one from my collection or the owner will give me cash for a new one and I will install it. The cut of the deal? The owner has seven of the original "casablanca" fans installed in his home, and one in his attic. I could possibly either get a sum of $150-200 or the remaining "casablanca" fan (these fans may not be casablanca at all, there were J-hooks in the junction boxes, similar to how a blender canopy mounts. And emerson made the casablanca series in the 70's-80's, but I could be wrong). If the fan actually is casablanca, it could either be a victorian, a columbia, or possibly a 20th century limited.

Andrew, that's pretty cool that you were able to talk the owner into giving you one of their Hunter Infinitis. My dad has one in his house, that he acquired back in 1992. It is brass with a 3-arm light kit. Good luck with finding the original Casablanca, and let us know what it is.

Stil, 70s era blenderfans are pretty cool.

I should add, Casablanca did not make any J-hook mount fans. The earliest ones mounted with a bracket similar to a heavy chandelier, then the double-grommit, then the hang-tru.

Here's an update. I am now finished with the reataurant fans and unfortunately, the owner no longer had the "casablanca". So instead of a fan for servicing and replacing a few of their fans, I got paid $175 instead.
Now, to the "casablanca". There were J-hooks in the junction boxes. casablanca never used a J-hook and the only fan that would work properly that way would have to be an emerson with a blander canopy. Because the first fans were installed in 1976, that makes me come to believe that the original fans were not casablanca, but RITZ. The owner probably thought the old fans were cadsablanca, alot of people mistake an old fan for a casablanca (such as the emerson casablanca series or an old ritz).

Or they were installed after 1976 and the owner is mistaken. Perhaps blenders or the like were intalled in '76, they were replaced by Casablancas in '80 or so, and then the Infinities. Not too many fans were around in '76. Hunter and Emerson were about it. Casablanca was just startng out, and there were a few scattered imports, including Ritz and SMC. And if your $175 included two or more replacement fans, you should have gotten more.

How far back do Crompton Greaves High Breezes date back then? Good question. I've never been able to figure this out. I've always presumed 70s but I do not know. Chances are they were made and sold in India long before they were available here.

The restaurant opened in 1976 mwith the original ornate fans. In 1994, the old fans were replaced with hunter infinitis. And I recently replaced two of the infinitis with westminsters I got from lowes with the owner's money. These fans were not blenders, they were ORNATE, and had lights. Not too many fans were around in '76. Hunter and Emerson were about it. Casablanca was just startng out, and there were a few scattered imports, including Ritz and SMC. The fans were probably either ritzes or SMCs then.

The fans were probably either ritzes or SMCs then. I dont believe Ritz or SMC had any ornate models at that time (although I dont know for sure). Ornate models became popular with Casablanca.
