I just picked up a Hunter Fan & Motor Company Type 1032 4 Blade ceiling fan. It has 4 aluminum blades and looks like it has a copper finish (very tarnished right now). I believe it is a 36" fan. I am new to ceiling fans and am wondering how I can date this thing and how much it might be worth. The guy I bought it from said his mother got it from an old drug store and then had it in her house for 30 years. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like one of the Hunters (I believe they are R36s) from the 1930s. This is all from memory and I may be a little off, but it's definitely an antique from the 20s-40s time frame. There are pictures of similar models in the Hunter Gallery of the Yahoo Group groups.yahoo.com/group/vintageceilingfans/Great find! I passed one up years ago and regret it every day.

None of the ones on Yahoo look similar, might not be 36" It is pretty small, how do you measure the fans?

Check, in the Hunter Gallery, a photo called hunter36wlight1. It's upside down. There's also one pictured, restored and fully polished, called hunter2 Nice find.

I am going to be listing it on Ebay after I clean it up and try to get it running. Wiring needs some attention. Any idea of value? Thanks again

Thanks again I havent seen one of the copper ones on eBay in a long time . . . this is only a guess, mind you, but I would think $100-125 would be a fair price, assuming it cleans up relatively well. Given the copper finish I wouldnt let it go lower, and if you can get more, by all means! Adrian would know better.
