I saw this fan at an estate sale in Dunn Loring, VA that I went to with my fiance two weekends ago. I want to say it's a Lasko but I'm not sure. I've seen these before, both in picture and in person. One of the WWII veterans I interviewed for my Eagle Project had one of these (without a light kit) in his family room. When were these made? This fan wasn't for sale unfortunately, and the family had it installed in the kitchen where it looked quite out of place. Still a pretty neat fan though. us.a2.yahoofs.com/groups/g_hr_14989369/4ffb/__hr_/7e3c.jpg?grYLqpHB0KZp2M4Y

That's actually a codep, and they aren't very common.

Thanks guys! Yeah, if it was for sale, and not too expensive, I probably would have bought it. I don't know what I would have done with it but at least I'd have another neat fan. The fan was too big for the kitchen and didn't match anything in it. It would have worked better in their living room, which had a real nice high vaulted ceiling. I just hope they don't end up throwing it away.... Speaking of throwing away fans, the Marine Corps doesn't seem to like fans too much. Two weeks ago while my company was getting new gear from supply I saw two four blade polished brass GE vent fans in the dumpster outside of the enlisted chow hall. While waiting for our supply issue the trash truck came and took them away. It was such a shame as they looked in good condition too.

Yes, it is a Codep. One of the more peculiar fans out there. I've never seen one go faster than, say, a medium speed, which makes me wonder how powerful they really are despite the size of their motor housings.
I had to throw out a set of blades from one of these at Habitat a couple of weeks ago, as the layers were coming apart and they were RIVETED to the brackets (are all of these fans this way?). Whoever came up with that idea was... well, not bright.

Funny you mention that Jeremy. I was imagining where I'd put the fans I own in that house if I owned it. I probably would have put my polished brass Slimline in the living room since it's already got a 3' extension pole on it. And my cheapo K-mart Atlantic Air spinner I have in my room right now I would have put in the kitchen.

well i have a friend who owns more than 1 houses, one that he is currently renting out to people and he,his wife and daughter lives in their other house..
and i figure you do the same(you buy the one with codep fan in it) and you just take out the codep fan and put it in your collection and put up more matching fan in it's place in that kitchen before you rent it out to others.. just a thought(just to keep that fan out of the trash)

I've got a friend who does the same thing Jeremy. He's one of my friends from back home in MD, yet he went to college in PA where he bought a couple houses and rents some of them out to college students. The others he's going to flip. I think he owns about 4 houses. I don't have the money at the moment right now to do that, and I don't know where in the world I'll be stationed either because of the Marine Corps. Right now I'm finishin up my officer's training in Quantico, VA. After that who knows where I'll be. I don't really plan on buying a house until I get out of the Marines. In the mean time all my fans are in my parents' house, hanging in the basement or in storage in my closet.

thanks,i was severly heart broken way back when i first find out that they are moving all cause that fan, when i was little,i use to play with it(my great aunt/uncle let me) i turned it on i remember it wobble so big that the end of those blades came less than 2 inches on hitting that wood bean(no joke)..
but the blade arms did hit the housing(made a click..click...click.. noise)..
but my great uncle fixed it before he moved,my great aunt is the one who took that pic) it was taken on september 1994(the month/year they moved out)..
