I think this fan is a SMC if I'm correct.

Thanks for the reply! Any idea of what year this one may be? What model? I couldn't tell a lot from the pictures provided, but I have never seen one like it before... edited to add: does any one know what type of mounting this particular fan uses? (ball,j hook,etc..)? This fan is going in my bedroom and I'm HOPING it uses the ball system.

The fan is an SMC model DC-42, sold at K-Mart sometime in the early 90s. It uses a dual-mounting system. I have the same fan in black/brass.

I have seen this fan in black & brass on Ebay many times. This fan is definitely from the 90s. I admit it looks at LOT like a cheaper version of the SMC Park Avenue II 42'' but the box says Global Winds. The vents are a little different and it appears to have a ivory sideband.(maby its just a error from the pic of the box?) The blades are square ends and are Not stencil. The bottom plate is Not even brass. The canopy and switch housing are just like a SMC.

Hmmm... its older than I thought it was, but, the older ceiling fan, the BETTER IT IS, as I always say!!! I did ask the seller before I bought it if it had an ivory ring around the motor, and they said it did... I think it has an odd color 'scheme' if you ask me...but the colors in my bed room are odd, so I guess that's a +! I'm going to break out my digital camera tomorrow after I get home from work, and take some pics of some other fans that I'm not sure about. (they're all ceiling fans, that I can't find the brand of...) I will post the picture for you 'fan experts' to identify. Any more info on the SMC fan I have purchased would be appreciated. THANKS!!!!

Jean, Andrew is right. It is an SMC DC42. It has a brass sideband.
SMC relabeled many fans for KMart, Global Winds was one of their brand names.

Oh my god, SMC have done So MANY relables with others companies. Like here in Canada SMC started doing relables around 2000-2002 with Super-Airworks a Canadian portable fan company. The SMC Park Avenue III 42'' (polished brass 3 tulip lights and 5 oak & cane blades) is still being made by this company and sold today at Canadian Tire for 34.99$. Here the link to Super-Airworks: www.super-electric.com/se/Ceiling%20FansAnd also Hampton Bay with Home Depot.

Wow! That's wonderful that your Dad works at SMC ceiling fan company. SMC is part of my most favorite ceiling fans brands. Can you name all the fans you have at your home?
