My landlady gave me this today, and I just put it up in my kitchen. It has a small gold sticker on top which says it was made in 1986, and it gives the model number. No manufacturer though. Anyone recognize this?

Whats the Model number, Could be a CEC This is the best I can get with the digital camera. If I get too close, it blurs out It would appear to say: Model B-336 Jan. 1986 Rated 120V, 60Hz, 2.45A That amperage seems wayyy too high...52" Hunter Originals don't draw that much current. But this little muthertrucker does FLY on high, and makes a deep hum (not an annoying buzz like you get with a rheostat, but that deep hum that you get with a really powerful motor). But still...2.45 amps?

Cool fan. What fan do you have in your dining room? It looks like another spinner.

At the local Habitat Restore in Gaithersburg, MD, they have one of those spinners for sale. It's NIB and antique brass. I'll probably be going out there later this week if I get the time. From what I remember the brand name was something like "Tacony" though don't quote me on that. If it's still there I'll check it out again. From what I remember it was only $10.

Tacony, who today makes the Regency brand (the fans in all new Subway restuarants), never made a fan that looks even remotely like this. At least, not one I've seen or heard of. If your memory serves you right, and my spinner IS a Tacony, I'd be excited. My local lighting store is run by this lady who's been in business since the 1970's. She's very knowledgeable, remembers all the brands and models they ever sold, and has NOS spare parts for lots of NuTone and Fasco models. Tacony was one of the brands she sold in the 80's, and she sells the Regency fans now, so I'll show her the pic and ask her what she thinks.

I easily could be wrong on the brand name of the fan. It's been about three months since I was last in the Habitat store that had the fan for sale. I'm pretty sure it started with a 'T' though. I'll try and get out there this week (tomorrow if I get the time) and see if they still have it and then report back here.

Well I stopped by my local Habitat Restore that had the spinner fan and just my luck it must have been sold because I couldn't find it there. I'm pretty sure the brand name started with a 'T' but other than that I don't remember much about it. Maybe someone else will have some better luck finding out what it is.

I dont think so, but it's possible. It doesnt look like a Tatung. Because a few different manufacturers (CEC, Moss, Toastmaster) made fans for Tatung, they came in many different and strange forms.

Tatung has been my underdog guess. The pull-chain...yeah, I know it looks like any old generic wood pull...but it somehow seems Tatungish. The bit that's really stirring my crock is switch housing. It looks very stocky (wide, chunky, whatever) in relation to the rest of the fan...and that was a very Tatung thing to do: www.vintageceilingfans.com/tatungcfe-36b.html
