I installed the fan about a year ago it is a reversible original Hunter. It worked silently and beautifully throughout last summer. It has a hunter school house light kit installed with it. It was turned off for a month or two during the coldest part of the winter and now when turned on has a most annoying electrical intermittent hum that increases with fan speed. I know it is electrical and not a bearing hum. If you turn the fan on high then cut power at the wall switch the hum stops immediately. The real problem seems to be the amplification of the humming by the light kit. The dome of the school house light amplifies the volume of the hum to an extreme. I have tried increasing the thickness of the rubber between the fan and the light using very heavy two sided tape to no avail. I contacted Hunter that was absolutely one of the most frustrating experiences I have ever had.
I explained in my email what I detailed above The asked for the model number I sent the model number. 23866A-420 They responded in two days wanting to know if the blades spun quietly and freely by hand and if the fan had a light kit I responded that they did and it did. They responded in 2 days wanting the part number of the light kit and a video of the fan I sent the part number. 99165. I tried to get video but the noise of the air on the camera was too loud. At this point I removed the blades in order to reduce the air noise and that's when I determined the increase in volume was due to the light kit They responded in two days wanting to know if I had a single or dual light switch and if I knew the brand I responded that there where two single switches. One for the fan one for the light and that they had not been changed since installation. In two days they responded that I needed to replace the fan could I provide them with proof of purchase. I responded that I did not have the original receipt. I also asked why they didn’t send out a list of questions on the original email and not waste so damn much time. They offered a 30% discount on a new fan I responded that I would not be purchasing another $600 fan that lasted 1 year.
My dilemma is that i either remove the light kit or replace the fan. The fan noise is almost imperceptible without the light kit Any suggestions for how to eliminate the lights amplification of the fan noise?

Typical Hunter customer service. Yet another reason they are the worst brand out there right now. I definitely would not recommend replacing that fan though. They are great fans when working properly and will last a lifetime. They are the only current Hunter product that is decent. That is a very strange issue that I have heard of but never had a situation where isolating the globe does not fix it. Either removing the light kit or fixing it would be your best choice though. Whenever I have noise from a fan I always turn it on. Feel different parts until I find what is vibrating(that is almost always the cause of noise in this case) usually for me its the globe and I use a bunch of rubber bands to silence it. You seem to know where the issue is so maybe try rubber bands around the neck of the globe? What you used should have done it but maybe those might. My next recommendation would be to do what old Hunter did. I have a 1982 R&M Original and to silence it, they used rubber washers on the light kit screws. So basically the 2 screws that hold on the light kit, you put said rubber washers on. You screw them in like normal, just that the washers are sitting on the head of the screw. Then you put the light kit on ensuring the washers are between the light kit and switch housing. Then you secure it. It may not look as clean but it silenced mine. If that doesn't silence it there is something else going on that I unfortunately don't have any ideas on right now. Let me know if you try anything and I can try to ask some people I know. Reaching out to Texas Ceiling Fans may also be a good idea. They have WAY better service than hunter. The guy helped me diagnose a wiring problem by phone and now my fans work great. You don't need to live in Texas for them to help you which is great. Very knowledgeable people there. Some other people on here also may have some ideas so keep checking back.
