This has gotten ridiculous lately.
Three times this year I've purchased items on eBay and gotten shipping damage. I have purchased a lot on there over the years and never had any issues but once before.
But this year I've gotten a plastic Lasko fan with broken parts, a Hunter fan with broken plastic blade.
This time I bought a vintage light and the shade is busted and metal bent. I think the seller packed it too tightly personally, but they don't offer returns so I don't know if I can get refunded.
Usually the buyer files a claim with shipper and then I get refunded and don't need to return the item.
But with this happening so often I wonder if eBay is going to think it's a fraudulent case. It just seems unusual for this to happen so frequently.

I remember years ago i bought a 60s xpelair wall extractor fan model wx9 from uk ebay, it went through my uk address and then shipped to dubai, i got the whole fan broken upon arrival but luckily all parts in box, i managed to fix the fan although the cracks r still visible.. i remember contacting the courier about the damaged item, they wanted to take it back in exchange of the money, i thought i would keep it than return it due to its high value and rarity
Last year i assigned the fan to be installed in the fan workshop as a ventilation for the small store (painting area), the contractor screwed up the installation, ended up being too tight and in a different orientation, and upon removal it broke, slightly worse than it was when i recieved it.. i did manage to fix it and it works just fine, only issue i sometimes face is laggy shutters that dont close well when fan is turned off

As long as you take pictures of all of the damage and send them to the seller (and perhaps eBay... I generally deal directly with the seller, as they're usually kind about it). I also put in the 'Message To Seller' section of the checkout page, 'Please pack very carefully, and write 'FRAGILE' on the box if you can'. I even ask the seller to double box if it's a smaller item (such as some bobbleheads or a diecast vehicle).
I have a Ring Video Doorbell (as well as Ring Cameras on the side and rear of my house), so I get to see anything and everything that's delivered. I suggest you get some kind of camera as well, so that you may tell if there's one driver that's being careless with packages (one of our UPS drivers that frequently does our route just throws our packages down on our concrete front stoop and asphalt driveway, so I've thought of contacting UPS with the camera footage (NOT to get him fired, but just to have them tell him to be more careful with packages). This may be something to include as evidence for damaged packages as well. I believe that most of the damage occurs when the drivers carelessly throw the packages down on your front porch or driveway (my parents and sister have also had damaged packages delivered by that same UPS driver).
That's just my opinion on this, but I don't think eBay is going to think your claims are fraudulent, being that you have picture and video proof (and everybody has some kind of smartphone or tablet nowadays, so that's easy to do).

I had a few things with eBay go haywire a few years ago. They’re buyer protection is pretty good though I must say. I did get screwed selling an Original on there though which really infuriated me.
Where I live FedEx is the culprit of everything wrong with a shipping company…. Late deliveries like days late despite the tracking, throwing boxes leaving them at the road when you have a 200 foot driveway, backing into stuff in your yard and leaving. I don’t really do Facebook besides reading the fan groups and I belong to a local community page and it’s always FedEx never an issue with ups. Our mailman is for the most part good but always will get stuck during snow. They’ve had several FedEx drivers get fired but they still replace them with not the best replacements!

Speaking of throwing boxes, i remember i ordered a NES from US in addition to other retro gaming items, the NES arrived at a time while i was out, i think either family trip or public holiday, i dont remember well, when the driver arrived, i got a call that a package has arrived, i asked him is the package big? He was like no, i assumed it was one of the lighter items that came in a small packaging, not the NES, i instructed him to throw the package from above the gate thinking everything would be ok with that small item.. upon arriving back, i discovered it was the NES that arrived and has been thrown from above the gate, the NES works, but renders only a gray screen on tv despite any cartridge i put in, which i assumed due to the impact my NES got damaged

I haven't had shipping damage per say but UPS destroyed one of my boxes once. So a showroom in Canada sent me some Kendal literature thru UPS. Tracking kept going back and forth and it said it was sent back to canada and it needed verification and tons of BS. Now that was false, it was always here in the US. It eventually made it and the box was squished and there was cardboard and dust all over the catalogs. Luckily the catalogs being catalogs survived and they dusted off easily. Still very stressful and annoying.

Good news is I contacted the seller with pictures. They said they could either offer partial refund or offer another shade. So I went with getting another shade since it might be hard to find another. I'm going to see if I can glue the broken one back together so that I'll hopefully have a spare for my other fixture. IDK if it will work or not.
