Hello, I'm hoping someone can help. We bought a house and the ceiling fan in the living room is missing the remote. It's a very high ceiling so I'm hoping to NOT have to buy a universal remote and get up into it and wire the new receiver.
We were able to snap a pic of the part # on top of the fan unit (by hanging precariously over the edge of the second floor overlooking the living room) and by using a selfie stick. The # is 897F
After searching the web I found that it's a Hampton Bay, but not sure what the model name is.
Does anyone know if there is a place I can purchase the exact remote for this fan? Or am I stuck with renting a really tall ladder to get up there?
Thank you.

Your ceiling fan is a Hampton Bay Bali. I found a bunch of controls that look like the original. Now there is one problem. There appears to also be so many different similar varieties and each is designed to go with a specific receiver. Someone may be able to tell you what receiver came with your fan but seeing as not many people in our group have your exact fan and the fact that the receivers model number is longer doesn't help either. I cannot recommend you go and buy the first control you see in case its not compatible. You could gamble your way through this issue but it would likely result in lots of extra work. Being able to access the receiver would be the best route as them we could find the EXACT match and save all problems including hunting for the correct frequency(this is explained below). Otherwise you could keep trying different ones. Another thing to keep in mind is you would need to go through dozens of frequency combinations on your new control so it matches the receiver.
To sum it up you have a few choices
1 guess through and risk needing to return and reorder controls until you find the matching one and then the frequency stuff.
2 Get a ladder and we can find the exact match right away by looking at the receiver and you can also ensure the frequency is the same without any guesswork.
3 you could get a universal control and receiver. Get a ladder and wire it up and then its done.
So theres 3 options here and each had its benefits and flaws. I will leave it up to you. Please reach out if you need anything else.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. I think I'm resigned to going with option #3. I could probably use a taller ladder for other projects anyways, so I'm thinking of buying one and going with the universal remote idea. I was hoping I could be lazy with this project, but I think this is the best way to go.
Thanks again.
