I was wondering recently about the Lakewood P-223 and S-223 fans with the wide plastic blades in the 70s.
Does anyone know when they changed from the smaller screw on handle to the wider one that had the tabs holding it on?
When did the switch sticker change from brown/black to white and gold?
When did they change from the round rubber feet on the bottom to having the square plastic feet at the front?
I have an S-223 with a motor date of 1976, and it has the larger handle, white and gold speed sticker and the square feet. It also has the thermally protected McMillan motor.
I know originally they had the McMillan motor that wasn't thermally protected (I think 1972-73), then the Westinghouse thermally protected motor from 1974-75 and went back to a thermally protected McMillan motor in 1976.
My guess is the handle and feet changed in 1974 or 1975.
But right now on eBay there is one with the round feet, black sticker, older handle, but it has a thermally protected McMillan. Which doesn't make sense to me, I'd expect it to have the early McMillan or a Westinghouse.

If you're looking for the date, I'd go by the date code that's stamped on the motor itself. At least that's how I've been told to identify when a Lakewood-manufactured box fan was manufactured.
