Fan will not start. It hums only but will run on high and low speeds in both directions if given a push. Have replaced the capacitor. Also need an internal wiring diagram if anyone has one.

So you replaced the capacitor above the winding? 7.5MFD, or one of the ones from that ebay seller selling them? When you say it will run high/low if pushed either way, it only spins slowly when this happens, correct? The Blue and brown wires are energized through a tap in the winding and the must have neutral to function. Medium does not function? (yellow wire). How did it start? Suddenly, or you noticed it over a period of time? I suspect you've lost something in the winding and only the inner or the outer winding is functioning currently. Could be wrong. Hunter will not replace the fan unless you have the receipt. We can fix it. Worst case scenario, I have some windings. But we need to check and see if the integrity of the wiring is good. photos.app.goo.gl/X1jxo45QmFfurUH28

Long story on this fan. It was at my lake house. The house was destroyed by a tornado. The fan sat in the rain for a day. Brought it home and was going to restore it. It sat for several years before I started work. It would run correctly when I started working on it. The switch housing was broken so I had to cut all of the wiring in order to fix the housing. I was able to get the housing fixed and all of the wires reconnected and it again ran correctly. While painting it I broke the housing again. Repaired the housing but could not get the fan to run. Presently the switch housing in off the fan. I can take the hot lead and touch the yellow wire and the fan hums. With a push the fan will run in both directions. The same for the green lead. It will run at a slower speed, probably medium speed, also in both directions with a push. Nothing on the blue or red leads. There is a gray lead which I have connected to the common wire. The fan has a reversing switch but will be satisfied if we can get three speed in one direction. Not looking for anything from Hunter. The fan is a late 80's or early 90's vintage cast iron. The old capacitor does not look bad. I replaced with a 10 MFD but can go back to the 7.5. I really think it is still good. The windings all look good and there is no smell of burning.
