While replacing the extension pole on this older Hunter ceiling fan, the crumbling zip tie holding the winding connections broke loose and then the connections ripped free. Since i didn't expect this to happen I didn't have a photo to compare. I've found an online drawing that is very similar, just not 1oo% sure which is the start-up winding and the running winding. I think the wires go: Red-4, Yellow-3, Gray-2, Pink-1. Could someone let me know if this is correct.

Ouch.
That's an "airmax" motor. I have a 172x15mm sitting here that's the previous generation without all the aluminum fins. If yours is a 172x15 also you can use that motor. Cool that you're trying to fix it, but there's a point of diminishing returns. That said, if you're damned and determined to fix it. Most... likely the outside winding is going to be the running winding but I can't say for sure. What Ohm readings do you get on the two coils? I could compare ohms to what you get on the colors and that might point you in the right direction. Worst thing that happens is it goes up in smoke, right?

Since it's just a matter of soldering back the wires, I don't see it as any problem. The outer winding is 42 ohms and the inner is 50 ohms.

So, I took apart another fan I have, called "Monte Carlo," and I saw that the reverse switch is wired to the outer winding. This is what I will follow and I will post this for future investigators.
