As a kid I always liked the compact trucks. We used to have a green Nissan King Cab truck with the 4cyl and 5 speed. I really liked that truck. The back area had jump seats below the side windows that were gray vinyl and pulled down from the wall. You sat sideways and there were lap belts that hung on hooks below the rear window. The rear window could slide open manually. The side windows which popped open were cool because the glass was curved at the top and you could see out the top where it met the roof. We usually didn't use the rear seats but did sometimes on trips to Home Depot. I miss that truck sometimes.
My grandfather had the same model Nissan, but a 1993 in red. He didn't keep it long, he bought different cars like every year LOL but I remember riding in the back one time. Then he had a 1994 Dodge Dakota in hunter green with a camper top, but that one was a regular cab. I don't think he kept it long either, because I don't remember riding in that one, but I do have pictures with it in them.
Later my grandfather got a 2002 or 03-ish Ford Ranger XLT extended cab truck, in gold with beige interior. The rear seats in that one were different, I think they stored under the rear window, and you folded them down and then the seatback folded up against the side window. Still had to sit sideways. I rode in that truck too once.
Now it seems like only Nissan really makes the true compact trucks anymore, in the Frontier series. With Ford discontinuing the old style Ranger and GM the S10/Sonoma. And I think Toyota's trucks have gotten bigger over the years and Mazda and Isuzu don't make them anymore. Mitsubishi used to sell the Dakota rebadged ones I recall.
