My Fasco has had the dry raspy bearings for years (not overly loud but just a constant whisper.) It's not that noticeable if it's during the day, but at night when all is quiet you can really hear it.
I thought about replacing it with my Casablanca Panama XLP but decided not so since I don't use it much. Not that I'd get rid of it but just put it in storage until I could replace the bearings. To me if a fan hummed a lot or noisy bearings then I'd replace it.

To me if a fan hummed a lot or noisy bearings then I'd replace it. I just replaced my Hunter Summer breeze as the bearings were right at the noticeable point before it drove me nuts. Hopefully I can find a new motor for it eventually it now is in my “retired” collection. I’d definitely be tempted if I had a new Panama XLP lying around to install it 😉
