Hey guys. Our friend from here davidg spotted this fan for me on Kijiji recently. This brown Sears is just like my 12" table one and my stand one as well. It came with the original box, so I could not pass it up. The seller had two of them, both he originally bought. He ask 40$ each so Ionly got one. Anyways I don't have much space for two also. It is in perfect condition, less yellowed than my 12" Sears. It is very powerful, wich contrast with the smaller one that is less powerful than other table fans from the era. very quiet use, perfect oscillation. I am very satisfied with the fan! bought on sale at 49.98 back then! compared to the 12"/30 cm one enjoy!

That's a really neat pair, especially with the box in such great condition.. I'm still amazed at how thick the guards on these fans are, I know they're quite powerful regardless but it seems like they wouldn't move any air.

It always seemed the Canadian models had closer grille spacing - must have been a stricter safety standard there.

I am now missing only a smaller variant to have the whole family! I wonder if they had a 9" version?

It always seemed the Canadian models had closer grille spacing - must have been a stricter safety standard there. Maybe! It didn't last very long thought, because in the 1990 the grils became more "open", although less than in the 1970 and before. These Sears have very thigh grils to be honest. they are very safe!

Congratulations for having the whole collection assuming a 23 cm version doesn't exist. You also have the rare pedestal version. The box of your 40 cm desk fan is in very good condition. I see it has a grounded plug. Did you found a date on the box? Does it come with an instruction manual?

The first year grills became slightly more open was probably 1998 so pretty late in the 1990's.

It always seemed the Canadian models had closer grille spacing - must have been a stricter safety standard there. Well by the late 1970's or so, it was not legal to have none finger proof grills anymore on fans but like Philippe pointed out around 1998-1999, grills became slightly more spaced but not dangerous like the pre late 1970's grills. Grills still have to have at least one ring so that spokes cannot be twisted to force fingers through them like you can do with fans from the early to mid 1970's.

That fan looks mint and the box is in excellent shape! I really wish we got those here in the US.
