Another Original Hunter Light Kit Question

My house has six Original Hunter Fans. I think that four of them are original to the house, ~1978, and two I think were added during renovations by the original owner in the 1980s.  I am renovating a kitchen, and I'm thinking of replacing the globe light with one of the "industrial" cage lights. The seller's online contact says that the light uses a "universal" light kit, but I think the fan is older than she is, and she says she doesn't think it will fit. Before I spend a bunch of money on this, does anyone know where I can find the specs on the universal kit or has anyone fitted a light like this to a Hunter? For starters welcome to VCF!

Anyways, a "universal" light kit (as the name implies) should fit the majority of ceiling fans.  That being said, not 100% of light kits on the market would be compatible with your fans; some are not designed to be universal at all, instead being fan-specific.  Would it be possible to share a link to the model you're looking at?

Regardless, with a Hunter Original, you'll find two screws on the bottom of the switch housing (right below the pull chain).  Your light kit should slide onto these screws, via the two included keyholes.  Here's an example of what most light kits will provide:

Thanks for the response. The fan kit I got supposedly could be mounted on the two switch housing screws, or on a central threaded rod. The instructions even show both ways. Unfortunately, the light only has the central rod fitting. I think I can rig something to work. Either working with the old light mount, or reworking a 4" crossbar into a 3" crossbar, fitting some kind of cap over it to transition to the 2" diameter crown on the new light. By the way, although the old light was still working, the wires on the fixture were fried. Might have got a good poke if I were dumb enough to work on this with the power to the light on.
