Here's my first portable fan acquisition for 2019. A late 1970's four blue bladed RECO oscillating desk fan I have been looking for a long time. I saw one on Kijiji around 2011 that was very yellowed and about 70$ or more. This one showed up in Janurary on Marketplace for 10$ and is in very good condition. It's barely yellowed and functiontions beautifully. It's very powerful. Unlike my other four blue plastic bladed fans, this one has a pretty strong low speed plus it has a special whirring sound to it at this speed. The spin down time wss naturally very good but like it's a fan that can be dismounted easily I still oiled it just in case. On high speed it's quiet a storm. A three bladed 30 cm version of this also exist. RECO are generally not common at all. It was a short lived Toronto company around the late 1970's to early 1990's. They also offered a five bladed box fan and some kitchen appliances. Although some of the parts, such as the centerpiece reminds me of RAKS fans and the buttons Wattson fans, it seems they made their own parts hence why it's marked made in Canada. As shown in the video, the blade set and the motor cover are carved with RECO KK in the plastic. Here's the video where you can see it from all angles with the motor under the cover shown. The panel is made of aluminum and is not scratched or coming off at all as you can see. Enjoy and comment!
