I was wondering if there a lot of LED streetlights being put in your area or what you thought of them. Here, they changed mostly the highway lights out for LED, but on regular streets they still use high pressure sodium (orange) or mercury vapor (blue) lighting. Also some parking lots have been changed to LED but a lot still use metal halide (white) lights.
They recently changed the section of lights on the highway near my house to LED and I actually find it's brighter and easier to see at night. Although I do like the look of the older cobra head fixtures vs the flat LED ones.
Also I do have two HID lights in my collection, a GE bucket style street light that's mercury vapor and a Regent high pressure sodium yard light.

here the streetlights(High pressure sodium) are progressively being changed to LED. In the industrial aera where I work there were some Low pressure sodium lights up to last summer when they were phased out by LED. I really don't like that move since I LOVE those LPS streetlight and they tend to get harder to find. However, I agree that the streets are now more brighter. Perfect for tough driving condition at night like heavy rain.

In my area almost everything is changed to LED except for smaller straight pole street lights that still uses high pressure sodium. A lot of commercial parking lots still uses high pressure sodium, mercury and metal halide. Generally I don't like LED, at least not for residential and light commercial use but for outdoor public lighting I like it a lot. I find it a lot brighter, so easier to see plus they turn on instantly.
Other parts of western Montréal still uses a lot of high pressure sodium mixed with some LED and occasionally some areas still have low pressure sodium that I like a lot. Mercury is generally rare anywhere in Montréal for street lighting. It is seen a lot in parking lots though.
