So I think we're going to go with the Fanimation Blitz. The only thing holding us up is the sheer co$$$$$t of having it installed. Every electrician wants $500-$1000; people on Thumbtack advertise for cheap and clearly don't read the note that the ceiling is 18' or so high, and scurry away when reminded of this fact. Ugh.
Maybe we should just rent a huge ladder?
Edit: we've gotten some more reasonable quotes today; let's see what happens.
Yeah, Kestrel, I would definitely rent a giant ladder; you don't need to spend big for an electrician for that type of job, especially since you've got some know-how. As far as fans go for the space, the Fanimation Blitz is a nice option for a low price. Fanimation has this listed at around 7200 CFM, but Lowe's (this is sold exclusively through Lowe's) has this listed at around 4000 CFM. But, I don't know how good airflow will be on it, since the blades are skinny w/o much pitch and the DC motor is smaller than most other DC Fanimation stuff (100×30mm), and CFM isn't always an accurate airflow indicator (and with new 2017/18 testing standards, has become too confusing to even rely on at all), but Fanimation quality is always top-notch, and it looks cool. I don't know if it'll fit with enough space between the blades and the ceiling, since it's 56"...but, if you want to assure that you get something that will fit in the space mentioned, there's plenty of options available, like this new-in-box Casablanca Metropolitan for instance (52"): m.ebay.com/itm/CASABLANCA-52-Ceiling-Fan-Metropolitan-Snow-White-6411Z-White-Blades-B509/122799589628?epid=3012047874&hash=item1c976d08fc:g:rXcAAOSwjyhaBAlM
EDIT: I just realized you're the same person I wrote that long suggestion list to in another thread! Going back to that conversation, I still think that the Minka Aire Simple would be a great choice for that space, unless your parents have thwarted that option. Now, there is one last fan I'll post here: www.homedepot.com/p/Lucci-Air-Airfusion-Climate-52-in-White-Ceiling-Fan-with-Remote-Control-21052101/304596129 this fan is a rebranded version of a Minka Aire ceiling fan that is manufactured under the "Aire" name for Home Depot called the "Intensity" (Basically Minka Aire's version of Fanimation's Lowes-exclusive "Studio Collection"), and has the same DC motor used in the Simple...but costs less. Good luck getting your parents to plant their opinion on something
