I got this fan few weeks ago, they replaced it with 44" Fanimation Embrace. It's made by Yu Yuan Industrial Co., Ltd., and UL sticker said it's dated September 2004, and other sticker says it's dated June 2005. Last time I saw this fan was in 2009 during Halloween party. I first saw it in 2008 during New Years Day party. When I first tested it, it turned out it had a bad capacitor (it didn't have a bad capacitor last time I saw it), and now I finally understood why Embrace was blowing more air than Teak. Teak blows 5982 CFM, 52" Embrace blows 5509 CFM, and 44" Embrace blows 3855 CFM, but those are only listed when capacitor is not bad. All 3 speeds were slower than they were supposed to be, and medium was actually a bit faster than high. I then replaced the capacitor and high speed went much faster, just that low and medium are slightly even slower, so it means that the speed capacitors are still bad. I'm not going to worry about that since bad speed capacitor actually makes speeds more distinguishable and it takes electronic skills to replace the speed capacitors since they are built in the receiver. Harbor Breeze Teak is basically a single speed fan that came with a remote kit. Here are the questions:
1. It is a wet rated fan, and it means that motor housing has no vents on top, and it can cause it to be hot inside. The start capacitor is inside the motor housing. Is it possible that heat helped capacitor go bad?
2. Why did medium go faster than high with an old capacitor?
3. Why did medium and low slow down a bit when capacitor was replaced, even though high went much faster?
