Very cool. I remember seeing this model at La Baie in 1999. It's very quiet. The replacement blades they are selling is not green though.

I remember when Walmart sold those 5 blade pedestals in black back in the 90s, I can remember an employee actually assembling one for the display. It actually resulted in me getting a black eye. I went home and took the fan/control box off the pole of my Perfect Design pedestal fan because I wanted to take it apart and assemble it like they were doing, and when I loosened the adjustment knob, the pole sprung up really fast because it didn't have the weight of the fan on top and it hit me right in the eye! I was so angry, but it was really all my fault. I threw the fan away not long after that and broke the plastic badge, poor fan.
The replacement bladeset says "not available online" but the fan and the blade securing knob say they are in stock.

So. I went ahead and bought one. Brand new. on eBay. Paid $37 including tax. I will update when it comes, hope it's the same one as from the late 1990s, early 2000s. My first memory of one was when I took drum lessons when I was a little kid. My teacher had one in the room he taught in. It was never on, but it was this model. This was around c. 2002-03. The quality must still be good because it has a 3-year warranty, as opposed to most fans' 1-year warranty. I like the flat back motor covers, 5-wing curved blade, and snake base of this fan. Hope it turns out to be what it says it is.

Lol, I've always referred to it as the "swirl" base. Either way, I hope it is as good as the ones sold 15 years ago. Being a newer fan, it will likely have the fuse plug.

I've heard it's the same fan but it has a fused plug and the blade cap is more fragile than the older models... but same basic fan. We shall see when she gets here tomorrow.

I looked at the manual and it's a fused plug. The fan can also tilt back and be used as an air circulator, my black Duracraft can do that too, but it's not supposed to be oscillating when in that position, whereas the Holmes can.

Update: so it came today... performs like a 90s fan and moves a lot of air... differences are the different blade cap and a fused plug... also has green blades. The only downside to it is that it is a big shorter than expected at full height.

As far as the height goes, I find that to be true about all Holmes pedestals I've encountered so far. Do you think you could post some pics?

Yeah when I get around to it... there's nothing to see really though because it's identical to the one you see online (sometimes that's not true, as manufacturers use older photos, but for this one, it looks just like the one they show online).

Glad it's the one we were hoping it would be. Too bad they don't make them in black, although I like how the blades are green.

Yeah, I'd highly recommend getting one, before they decide to stop making them for good. I wish they made them in black as well, but the green blades are a cool 90s retro touch, as I thought they'd just be a boring gray.

I really had no intentions to get one,, but if they really are the same as they used to be, I may get one.. 3 year warranty is always good..
I'd be interested to see some pictures of the motor..
Edit: I just went over to Amazon to read some of the reviews.. It seems the more recent reviews, from this year and last, report widespread issues with the nut that holes the blades on.. I suppose they sell a replacement blade for a reason.. With that being discovered,, I don't think I'll be purchasing one.. I'm not going to spend 40 dollars on something I don't really need, just to have it break on me..
