I've got a Zephyr cb-1666 sn 1073832 that has fried its variable speed electronics. The motor hums when the fan is turned on but the blades only turn about 12 rpm when the potentiometer is turn to the max. Casablanca won't sell me the 3 speed conversion kit, only to service centers. They won't even tell me the part number so I can look it up and buy it on-line. The service center won't sell me the kit either. Anyone know the correct kit that I'll need to get the fan working again? Thanks.

Your best bet would be to buy a 10uF capacitor and convert the fan to single speed then install it on a remote or wall control.

Your best bet would be to buy a 10uF capacitor and convert the fan to single speed then install it on a remote or wall control. That would be my next option. Saw a youtube video of some teen that really needs a haircut doing the single speed conversion. I really don't like to make it complicated, like a remote. Just more things to break. I did find this kit, but it is way overpriced. This one is also an option, but still expensive.

I'm not making fun of his haircut, just saying that he needs a haircut.

You can get a remote receiver that is a lot less likely to break than the original electronics (I recommend a Fanimation learning remote) or use a wall control, that will not fail at all.
One day I will learn the story behind Cole's unique hairstyle.

Update. Local guy (Gulf Coast Fans in Houston) wanted $150 for a 3 speed conversion board, pc-6. Found a business in Spur,TX that had the DY10 board to convert the Vari-Quiet to 3 speed for $25 +shipping and tax. The business is called Switchco. Website is rudimentary but you can speak to a real person (Gail).

That's good you found a place. I was gonna suggest Sun's Up Fan Repair (based in MD and FL), as they stock Casa electronics and conversion kits and the like. But see you've already found a place.

There is a YouTube video of Hampton Bay Antigua with a Lutron Skylark that didn't work on high, but new control worked on high, so even high speed can fail. So wall controls can fail if: Capacitor fails Metal contact fails Resistor in series fails

For $50 you could keep one and probably sell the other two and make some money and in case you needed any other parts take it from the others.
Ultimately it looks like a great deal!

Part came in and was installed. Works without issues so far. The bad: Not made in USA, board held up only by the pull chain body The good: Made in Taiwan, not mainland China, costs $25
