I got one of these a few days ago and I'm thinking about installing it in my computer room.. The problem is the electrical box in the computer room is one of those ones that screws between two of the beams in the ceiling and the box is suspended between them, so there's no beam to screw in the J-hook to where the hole is..
Of course there's the ghetto option of pulling out that box thing that's there, attaching a 2X4 or something of that nature across the two beams in its place and screwing the J-hook on that,, but without doing that is there some type of adapter I can get that would allow me to attach the J-hook to the box as it is?

I assume you finally found a fan with good bearings? As miraculous as it may seem,, I believe I have.. Of course I've only ran it for a few minutes,, so that could change..
Where can I buy these?

If you are in a pinch, you many want to consider a ball and socket conversion... An electrical supply house would be my first stop.

I was able to locate the DZ-1 adapter on Amazon, but they want 15 dollars for it.. Seems quite a bit for such a simple piece.. First I've got to test the fan on a remote control, since a wall choke is not an option in the computer room.. If it ends up working reasonably well with the remote I have, I will consider it..

I don't think I'd trust ball/socket with this fan, it's heavy..
