If I'm in a minority here, so be it, but I really like the design of the Euclid. I like the design of the Ideal more, but I felt there were some distinctly 90s Emerson vibes coming from this one with all the geometric forms. I wasn't blown away by the specs either, normally Emerson is so good with optimizing their fans. The price seems to be $279 from the retailers that have them listed, which like the Keane I think is a fair price for a nicely designed fan that moves ok air. It's still a lot of money, but definitely on the lower end for Emerson. Agreed. While I don't think this fan is a really good design (obviously), it does give the 90s vibe like you speak of. But, the Keane is $149 and up, which is a good price for something as nicely designed as it is, that performs decently as well. But $279 is definitely too much for a fan such as this; I could buy a product designed much better than this with better performance for the same price; this strikes me as a filler model of Emerson's lineup that can and potentially will be quickly dispensed of in a few years.

It's definitely filler, regardless of how long it lasts. The price point alone makes that clear I think, it's right in the midrange, and there's no bells or whistles, or anything extraordinary about it. I don't disagree that there ARE better fans that also perform better at a similar price, but for Emerson I don't think this is entirely out of line. The Keane somehow became an anomaly, I still can't believe it retails that low. It's so low you almost can't even consider it as a point of comparison for anything else. I still say by regular Emerson standards it should easily be $200. You look at the price points of some of the other much more basic fans that have been offered like the Snugger and Northwind, and I don't think a fan with as much design flair as the Euclid is really that bad at only $100 more than the Snugger. I'm not saying I would buy it, I'm not saying I like the price point. But I am saying it makes absolute sense to me.

Minka Aire has been really upping their game over the past two release cycles (2016 and this one), with their extravagant designs and just plainly solid fans. This year we see more of that principle...and the one fan in their lineup that looks entirely misplaced. Why? This thing has about the design originality of a Kia Optima compared with everything else on the road, especially sad for something in the contemporary genre, which is about impressive design. It is called the "Lun-Aire" which should let you know right off the bat that this thing is cheap. No other specifications have been released other than this thing has a 12° blade pitch and a (actually good size) 172×17mm motor....just watch this thing be priced at $300 or something. Pic:

*Yawns*. Clearly supposed to be in the same category as the Kichler Starkk, Quorum Colton, etc. etc. I'm just not into this style, it's so blah. This coming from someone who likes just about everything. You're right, I think what gets me is there's nothing interesting or innovative about such a design, especially when multiple other brands have already put their own spin on it. Really I think the basis of the design is meant to blend in as much as possible, which is never what I want my fan to do.

However, even though this design has had many spins placed upon it, this one does not. Actually, this thing looks almost like a carbon copy of this fan:

I think the Minka one is a little unique in that it actually has a 'blade arm', but that's about where any morsel of interest ends.

However, this is in no way indicative of what else Minka has been up to. This here is easily among the coolest things they have done in years, and its name basically sums the entire fan up: it's called the Simple. This has to be one of the best new designs of 2017, and it's almost as cool as the Drone in my opinion, definitely one of my favorites. This fan definitely has lots of design influence from the blenderfan; particularly the 3-blade variant without the switch housing, along with modern contemporary design influence, an example of that being the curved/slightly concave blades. This fan has a 123×30mm DC motor that is very powerful (tall stack height), and according to the airflow info for this thing, it hauls ass. Even better though is the price; this thing is priced at $279. That's almost TOO cheap for something that's this cool. Pic:

Yep yep yep. I don't love Simple as much as I love Drone, but I do like it a lot. The proportions are just a little off for me, I think that's really the only thing that keeps me from totally loving it. Can't argue with the price point or performance though, it's a great option.

I have to disagree with you a little on the proportions; I quite like the proportions here. But yeah, I do like the Drone a bit better definitely; the Drone has to be my favorite design of 2017.

Housing is a little too... I don't know, squat. Can't exactly put into words what it is for me. Do have to give them props for it being something of visual interest though, the minimalist 3 blade designs with cylindrical housings are getting a little repetitive. There really has to be some interesting shapes, or unconventional materials, or some specific unique feature to wow me at this point. I really do like it a lot overall.

Although not a new fan at all, we have been seeing it about about ten years now, just never under this brand, Craftmade now offers a KDK M56LG fan in their lineup. It's not available in silver or black for the moment, only in white. It says it has 5-speed so it might come with an actual KDK 5-speed controller. They removed the KDK logos on the canopy and on the bottom of the motor and comes with a 40 cm long extension pole. www.craftmade.com/kodiak-kdk56w3
