got this poor abused SMC from the scrapyard in around september or october 2016, it looked very hopeless but i decided to restore it to its fullest! the fan was apparently placed in the kitchen and was being operated continuously, this was a bit easier to manage than the 36" CEC i obtained a few years ago as the fan wasnt painted over the layers of kitchen grease.. but instead of paint layer on grease, there was some cement on the blades, top of the motor and canopies despite the terrible condition, its bearings were just fine and didnt need to be changed judging based on the motor design, the motor had the same structure as the 60s models (screws from bottom to top, just like union, and a thicker bottom ring) but it had a sticker label instead of the metal plate and the capacitor was just like the early 70s model, however, i accidentally cut of the label while digging out the layers of grease and cement.. the date label inside the canopy was blackened due to grease pile before restoration: after the initial stage of restoration, bending blades back and cleaning after painting and canopies 3D printed and finally!

Very good. Now you just need to either oil (or replace) the bearings. They sound horrendous.

That has got to be one of the worst condition fans I've ever seen that was still in use.. The restoration turned out great!

OMG, you worked a miracle on that fan, I never would've thought that it could be saved. Also, it's so dirty, I thought the fan's original color was brown.

I usually ditch those fans covered up in oil if i find them in scrapyard dince these r a pain to clean, i took this coz it was my first 36" SMC fan anf i knew how valuable it could be
