So I thought I'd do this since someone gave me a FREE brushed nickel Hampton Bay Hollandale NIB the other day:
This is a fan that I'd never really buy myself, but in this case, someone didn't want it and gave it to me. I got it NIB, the only thing is that the box had been cut open (tape cut), but everything else was still sealed and intact. Looking at the fan and laying out all of its components prior to installation, it really wasn't that impressive, but once I actually put it up on display in my basement, I was impressed. The finish is of high quality, better than I'd expect out of Hampton Bay. The motor is 153mm, which is typical of a hugger-style ceiling fan, but while I don't have it hooked up to electrical power, Hampton Bay says it moves 4491 CFM, which is good considering its size and the fact that it's a hugger fan. Some reviewers say that the Hollandale is wobbly and noisy, but I've never experienced those issues with similar Hampton Bay fans, such as the Glendale and Lyndhurt, for example. Installation is pretty easy, being that there are alignment posts to align the blade onto the blade arm, and the glass light shades have compression rings to hold them in place instead of those pesky thumbscrews. I just wish the switch housing/light kit fitter assembly had some keyhole screw slots instead of standard screw holes to make installing it onto the fan motor easier (the switch housing/light kit fitter assembly has a single wiring harness connection, however, so the connection is secure and won't come loose over time). The fan itself looks substantial, and the blades appear to "float" on the blade arms, and the blade arms interlock and extended off the motor housing cover a bit, making for a "streamlined" appearance. It almost (almost) looks like a Hunter product, and it would if I didn't install the Hampton Bay pull chain pendants. Overall, I have to recommend the Hollandale because it's reasonably priced, looks good, and appears to be a good performer for what it is.
You can see the Hollandale here (I didn't bother taking pictures since it's still sold today): www.homedepot.com/p/Hampton-Bay-Hollandale-52-in-Brushed-Nickel-Ceiling-Fan-14414/203697290
NOTE: I don't know the OEM for this fan, but seeing how its traits compare to other fans of this OEM, and the model number format (CF-552H), I believe it to be manufactured by King of Fans, aka Chien Luen Industries/CLI, the same OEM as Emerson uses, so I see why it's kind of high quality and comparable to a lower-end Emerson product.
Overall Rating: 3.5/5

The Bottom Line: If you MUST buy a home center fan for an 8' or less ceiling, this would be the one to get!
