I got two windmere 12 inch oscillating fans, they are the white ones with the large badge in the middle and the piano key switch, the problem is, when they run during oscillation, the fan makes a clicking noise when it gets into the middle of the oscillation sweep, so I checked out the gear box and I found it dry with no grease, and I added some from another fan, and it still does it, and I checked out the gears and none are stripped, the second fan does the same thing, and it also gets stuck, so I did the same thing as above, with no success, also I ran them with out the oscillation linkage connected, and no click, otherwise the fan runs normally, so what may be wrong

Windmere is known for having terrible oscillator mechanisms.. Unfortunately what you're experiencing is not a rarity.. I don't know of any fix..
