I have two Hunter model 22272 fans...one in the living room and the other in the bedroom. The one in the bedroom makes a cyclic clicking noise at higher speeds and my wife hates it. Bottom line, considering they are original with the house (1980), I would like to replace at lest the one in the bedroom. My problem...It is attached with an eye and bolt arrangement through a decorative wooden beam. Since this wooden beam does not have your typical electrical box like more modern fan/light fixtures, I need to find a new fan that has the same eye and bolt connection arrangement. No luck at Lowe's or Home Depot. Anybody know where I can find a new fan with this type of hanging arrangement?
Thank you!

Have you kept up with oiling your fans? You typically want to check the oil level every few years. If you haven't been oiling them, you may want to try that and the clicking could go away if none of the parts have worn too badly, in which case you wouldn't have to replace the fan at all. There should be a little hole on top of the fan where you can add oil, you're probably not going to need more than 1 ounce of 10 wt non detergent oil per fan. There are also tubes of oil for Hunter Original fans for sale online, if you look around. Add the oil very slowly or it could spill over the top of the rotor inside the motor and make a major mess. If you don't want to try the oil, or that doesn't fix your issue, Hunter still manufactures the Original series of fans which mount in the same manner. They use a different motor structure now than the fans you have, but they still take oil and are pretty solid fans. www.hunterfan.com/ceiling-fans/outdoor-original

Thanks, Cole...I added some oil to the fan in the living room about 5 years ago and it is going strong. I added oil to the one inthe bedroom at the same time and it ended up slinging the oil all over our white down comforter! NOT taking that risk again! I know they are solid fans but would really prefer to change out the one in the bedroom at least and need to find one with the same mounting system. Can't find it at Lowe's or Home Depot.

New fans do not mount that way except for new Hunter Originals. You're better off repairing the old one.

If it is slinging oil, there's a chance the oil return could be clogged...
I agree with the others here... these Originals can last 100+ years under most circumstances. It's worth a shot repairing it.

If you're not comfortable trying to repair it,, there is also the option of selling the Original that's currently in there and replacing it with another Original that doesn't have any issues..
