Those weird stack motor huggers exist... Forever fan? and some other companies had them. Ah! Yes! I take back what I said. There are good quality huggers- the ultra-rare Thomas stack motor hugger and other stack motor huggers. Stack motor huggers are rare, though.

I'd say a Hunter Low Profile Original.

I'd say a Hunter Low Profile Original. Those are really good. But those stack motor huggers are too.

What gets me is how absolutely cheap these new huggers can be. Its honestly pathetic. I purchased a Hampton Bay Clarkston on ebay for the globes because it came with free shipping. i bough the fan for less then a globe could be purchased at Home Depot it was sad how cheap it was. Like some of these newer Home Depot Huggers don't even look safe to have in your house. Its like the metal quality is one step away from being the thickness of a soda can!

Huggers from mainstream brands have gotten a ton better, but others from the lower end brands are terrible. Most huggers nowadays are contemporary, which I would have no problem with if there was a standout contemporary fan, but most of them look the same.

I've heard that the SMC U- series flush mount fans are quite powerful, though I have no personal experience with them..
For huggers I have an older 52" Alaska hugger, and a 42" Westinghouse Casanova.. The Alaska has a huge motor and really throws some air.. Granted its installed on an unfinished basement ceiling so it is getting a fair bit more air above it than it usually would.. I did have it installed in the bedroom for a short period of time, and I don't recall it being that much less powerful..
